Start every job from an approved position request
01Built on your job profiles
Role and level come from the same job profiles your employee records use.02Approvers from your org chart
Direct manager, their manager or department manager, resolved per request.03Approved request becomes the job
Create job and link fills a new job with the request's details.04Tracked until the seat is filled
Statuses run to Hired, and hired candidates appear on the request.Position requests
Request a position with everything approvers need so nobody asks twice
Managers with Hiring plan access click Request new position and fill in one form. The job profile sets the role and level from Career architecture, the same profiles your employee records use. Approval by policy
Route each request to the right approvers so no budget is signed off in chat
Position requests have their own category in Approval policies, the same editor you use for time off and offers. A policy applies to the groups of requesters you choose and names approvers by rule: a specific person, the direct manager, that manager's manager, the department manager, or an employee set in a custom field. Steps run in sequence or in parallel, and every decision stays on the request.
01Approvers by rule
Resolved from the org structure for each requester.02Substitution
A replacement approver steps in when someone is away.03Decisions with comments
Add, edit or remove a comment after approving or declining.04Notifications
In-app, by email or in Slack, for approvers and for the requester. From approval to hire
Turn an approved request into a job so the hire stays tied to its budget
Once a request is approved, Link to a job offers two options. Create job and link opens a new job with the title, description, requirements, department, job profile, location and salary range filled in. Link to existing job attaches a job you opened earlier. The request moves to Hiring, then to Hired, and lists who joined.
01Create job and link
A new job form pre-filled from the approved request.02Link to existing job
Attach a job that is already open; unlink or add another.03Six statuses
Awaiting, Approved, Declined, Canceled, Hiring, Hired.04Filters
Division, department, location, status, planned date and requester.
One HR platform
Approve roles on the same structure you run the company on
A position request uses your job profiles, divisions, departments and locations, and the approval policies you already use for time off and offers. When the job opens, the ATS takes over: career pages, pipelines, scorecards and the offer. The hiring plan decides which roles get opened; the ATS fills them.
01Applicant tracking
Pipelines, scorecards and offers for the job you opened.02Career pages
Publish the new job on your own branded pages.03Org structure
Divisions, departments, locations and job profiles shared with Core HR.What is the hiring plan in Skailer?
Skailer vs. the alternativesSpreadsheets and email cost nothing and fit any process. Workforce planning tools go further than Skailer, with planning cycles, scenarios and budget roll-ups for finance. Skailer keeps the approval inside recruiting, on your own structure, so the approved request becomes the job.
Where approved headcount lives in each kind of tool
| Capability | Spreadsheets & email | Workforce planning tools | Skailer |
|---|---|---|---|
| Request format | Free text in a thread | Position in a planning cycle | One form with job profile, department, date and salary range |
| Who approves | Whoever is copied | The plan's reviewer chain | Approvers resolved by policy from the org structure |
| Scenarios and forecasts | Built by hand | Yes | Not included |
| Opening the job | Retyped by the recruiter | Handed to recruiting, often in another tool | Create job and link pre-fills the job |
| Tracking to hire | Manual | Varies by tool | Hiring and Hired statuses with hired candidates |

What is the hiring plan in Skailer?
It is the headcount approval step of Skailer Recruiting. Managers submit position requests with a job profile, department, location, date and salary range, approvers decide by policy, and an approved request becomes a job. The request stays linked to that job until someone is hired.
